To give charity publicly is good, but to give to the poor privately is better for you, and will absolve you of your sins. And Allah is all aware of what you do.

If a human dies, then his good deeds stop except for three: a SadaqaJariah (continuous charity), a beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.

Allah said: ‘Spend, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.’
